Have you got the "you want how much for that alternator". If
you don't know tach failure is a good indicator of an upcoming
visit with the tow truck guy. When that time comes check with
Advance Auto Parts. I recently purchased a remanuft. alt. for
$300.00. It's a good price and it carries a lifetime, LIFETIME
warranty.

1.Switch
ignition on. 2.Disconnect serial link mating plug, wait 5 seconds,
then reconnect. 3.Switch ignition off, wait for main relay to
drop out. 4.Switch ignition on. The display should now be reset.
If there are other faults, the next one will be displayed. Otherwise
the display will be black 5.If there is more than one fault
repeat steps 1 to 4, to clear each fault until the display is
blank.

Oh yes we
have all seen it many a times.....There is a brown relay behind
kick panel on rt. side about the size of a double relay and
on top of the relay is a Land Rover sticker; remove sticker
to expose two holes in top of relay below one of the holes are
contacts that will need to be bridged using small thin screwdriver
or paper clip. Bridge contacts with key on to reset service
light.
Starter
- Cold Weather

You should put 5W-40W oil in your vehicle if you live in a cold
climate. This will allow the starter to turn faster and help
eliminate flooding problems in cold start situations. Move back
to a 10W-40 or 20W-50 in warmer climates and in the summer.
Starting
in Cold Weather

Starting problems in cold weather are often exaserbated by poor
battery grounding. This also effects the charging system which
may not be working up to its full potential (another problem).
Insure the ends of the ground cable, the battery terminal and
where the cable is bolted to the vehicle, are cleaned and snug.
Use an abrasive paper to brighten things up. This is a fifteen
minute job every few months that will help keep your starting
problems to a minimum.
